We Respond to the Growing Need for Marijuana Addiction Treatment for Women
The term marijuana is used to refer to certain cannabis plant preparations that are meant to be used for intoxication.
The inhalation of cannabis smoke can be traced all the way back to the third millennium B.C., when it was used for religious purposes. Today, it is estimated that four percent of the world's adult population use cannabis annually and 0.6 percent use it daily. A recent study conducted by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the US Health Resources and Services Administration showed that approximately 24 percent of women aged 18 to 25 have taken cannabis in one of its various forms.
Harmony Place has been studying this phenomenon for years, in order to improve our detoxification and rehabilitation treatment programs. We have observed that the chronic use of marijuana leads to many detrimental physical and mental effects, including those that can greatly affect women. These include increased anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation – conditions in which emotions are the primary factor.
Long-term use of cannabis derivatives can lead to addiction, so the first step in our treatment of this drug's abuse is detoxification. Our facility is designed to provide a peaceful and safe venue for this process. Our treatment programs are all specifically made for women, and aim to address both the symptoms and the root cause of substance addiction.
Harmony Place's staff is composed of highly trained physicians and medical professionals chosen specifically for their expertise and genuine concern for our guests. Letting go of an addiction to marijuana, the world's most abused drug, may be difficult, but women who want to be free of this curse can take comfort in the fact that Harmony Place is here for them.
