Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center
Exclusive Rehab Facility Comments (6)
When choosing a drug and alcohol rehab center for either oneself or a loved one, certainly there are many criteria to consider. Type of treatment, location of the program, length of stay and, of course, cost, are all important factors which must be taken into account before entering any rehab center. However, because there are (as of yet) no “Fodor’s” or “Zagat” guides to “rate” rehabs, and the decision to enter rehabilitation is often made during an emotional period in the life of an individual or family, many patients admit to programs without perhaps choosing the one which offers the best “fit” for them.
In order to make the best rehab choice possible, professionals suggest that anyone calling a drug and alcohol rehab center for information should keep in mind that they are the buyer. Recovery professionals further advise callers to drug and alcohol rehabs to investigate programs thoroughly, ask lots of questions and even request a copy of the treatment center’s current program schedule, before making a final decision. A student probably would not accept admittance to a college or university without a solid knowledge of the philosophy and expectations of the academic institution. A family would most likely not pay the tuition in advance without some idea of the classes that tuition covers. The same is true with rehab. Like college study, rehab outcome can have a profound effect on the future success of an individual struggling with substance abuse. Choosing wisely is paramount to ensuring the best possible outcome.
Experts have agreed that even the choice between a co-ed rehab program or one that is gender specific, can significantly influence the success of one’s sobriety as well. Programs designed specifically for women, which until very recently were very rare, have been increasingly recognized by recovery professionals as offering a better opportunity for long term successful recovery from drug and alcohol than a more secular co-ed environment. Many of the top drug and alcohol rehab centers in fact have expanded the programs they offer to include specific treatment programs for women. Harmony Place, The Place For Recovery, a best rated dual diagnosis rehab center based in Malibu, California, launched their Harmony Place Exclusively For Women program last year to great success. Their program, which can be found through their website at www.harmonyplace.net, offers a unique and exemplary model which other top drug and alcohol treatment centers have recognized as the leading drug and alcohol rehab for women available.
With an internet full of choices in recovery resources, choosing the best drug and alcohol rehab center can prove a daunting business. However, recognizing the importance of how that choice can impact the future success of one’s recovery is perhaps the most vital component in the choosing.

I certainly agree that choosing the right research center is vital for a successful recovery. One more aspect of different centers I would like to add when researching is how much a center puts effort into personalizing treatment. Everyone is different. Treatments should always vary depending on the person.
Alcohol treatment is different from normal medical treatment since it is not a passive process. In order to succeed, individuals going through alcohol treatment program must be active in their own recovery process and continually working to stay healthy.
