Alcohol Rehab—Dealing with Denial
Admitting to having a problem with drinking is a difficult task. According to some research, as much as 20% of American adults suffer from alcohol abuse or dependency. Obviously 20% of adults are not actively seeking treatment for a problem. Going to alcohol rehab is a big step, which Americans with alcohol related problems struggle to take. Usually, it takes something drastic to make people realize that their drinking has escalated to become a serious issue. Unfortunately, by that point, damage to one’s self or others has already occurred. Most who suffer from alcoholism probably do not think alcohol rehab is for them because they don’t believe their problem isn’t that bad. They tend to rationalize their way around the truth. Despite the frustration involved, alcoholics in denial need love and support from their families while discussing alcohol rehab as an option.
